Bone Density Scan – Hip, Spine and Forearm scan
An enhanced DEXA examination (Bone Density scan) involving a scan of your hip, spine and Forearm (Wrist) may be required if you have certain medical conditions (e.g. hyperparathyroidism, severe kidney disease) or if you are unable to lie on an examination table to have your spine and hip scanned successfully. The Hip, Spine and Forearm scan does not involve being enclosed in a mechanical tunnel or having an injection. Generally, clothing does not have to be removed but clothes with metal should be avoided.
